Google Maps will not only look to come up with India-specific offerings, but will also replicate them internationally.
Google Maps has recently introduced an ‘offline map’ service and the ‘local guide’ service where people are given free Google Drive storage as an incentive for sharing photos, new locations and adding reviews.
These are India-specific services that were introduced globally.
“We are always looking at ways to add to our existing maps service,” said Sanket Gupta, Program Manager, India Head, Google Map.
The company has also tied-up with the Archaelogical Survey of India for 360 degree virtual tour of 280-odd monuments across the country including Taj Mahal, Victoria Memorial and the ruins of Hampi.
