For all those e-commerce firms that want to make a dent in rural India but find it expensive, the government’s postal network is willing to lend a hand. Just last month India Post launched a centre to exclusively handle e-commerce business and offered to partner companies eyeing the hinterland. In an official statement, India Post said, “This processing centre will handle exclusively all the e-commerce business... from booking till dispatch.” The centre can handle 30,000 parcels a day. Reports coming in suggest that companies like Amazon, Paytm, Yepme and Snapdeal have already begun using its services. What’s more, India Post has also launched an android-based mobile app with features such as real-time tracking, post office search and postage calculator. An opportunity not to be missed!
