Hukkam Singh takes a siesta as the sun floods his small organic farm on a winter afternoon in Paharsar village, Bharatpur district, Rajasthan. The 35-year-old marginal farmer has managed to enhance his income in a unique way. Apart from selling his greens to the locals, he has started a sapling business. “Farmers from other villages buy saplings from me. Though they do not sell vegetables, they prefer to grow organic in the family garden,” he explains. Hukkam and his brother Kishan manage to earn about ₹250 daily from their 4x1 feet farm. Paharsar is one of the model villages developed by Lupin Human Welfare and Research Foundation.
