Music composer and singer Shankar Mahadevan launched the Dictionary of English: The Udder Side by author P.V. Subramaniam. The book, published by Fingerprint! Publications, takes a fun and light-hearted look at the English dictionary.
The author, who is a dentist by profession, said he was happy with the encouraging response he had received for the book. Subramaniam is a reader of diverse subjects and genres, which have fuelled his wit and humour, an official statement said.
The book, in no way comparable to a normal dictionary, is a collection of redefined words highlighting the pliability of the English language and the pleasures of interpretation. It is illustrated by British cartoonist Mark Wood, the statement said.
The launch, sponsored by Kotak in Mumbai, was attended by singer Sona Mahapatra and Ram Sampat music composer of the film Delly Belly and Talaash .
