The Indian Hotels Company Ltd, better known as the Taj group, will open three properties under its upscale brand Gateway Hotels and Resorts next year.

Prabhat S Verma, Chief Operating Officer, Gateway Hotels, said, “We plan to open three properties in the coming year — 121-key hotel in Raipur, 150-key hotel in Pune and 50-key resort in Corbett, Uttarakhand.”

Gateway is also looking at opening a resort in Theog, near Shimla, Verma said at the sidelines of the launch of the brand’s first resort in the country — The Gateway Resort, Damdama Lake, Gurgaon.

The resort, the 25th property in Gateway’s portfolio, is spread over 20 acres and has been launched in association with Samak Dhoot Resorts and Spa Pvt Ltd. It offers 78 rooms including two suites.

On average room rate and occupancy expected from the property, Verma, said, “It would be around ₹8,000 and the resort should do around 50-55 per cent occupancy in the first year.”

The property has been designed as a weekend retreat in the outskirts of Gurgaon. It has an adventure park zone with activities such as zorbing, rock climbing, among others.

The Indian Hotels Company Ltd has four brands — Taj in the luxury space, Vivanta by Taj in the upper upscale, Gateway by Taj in the upscale, and Ginger in the budget segment.
