No matter how many vehicular rules are framed, Indians will find innovative ways to bend them. Sanjay Singh from Garhi Bohar village in Rohtak tehsil, Haryana, has modified his motorcycle to carry four passengers, a massive bag of grain and even a gas cylinder.
“What’s wrong with what I’ve done? I have made maximum use of the space available on my motorcycle and built luggage carriages on both sides, which helps to balance better,” he explains.
What about safety and his missing helmet? That too on the national highway? Singh shrugs and smiles away the concerns: “We only have 15km or so to go. There isn’t much patrolling during the afternoon. And if we are checked? That too we can manage.”
