For the young and bitten by the shopping bug, here is a site that makes it interesting and economical to shop. Transparency is the USP of coupons and deals site Shoppirate.in, founded by Snippets IT Solutions.
Kulpreet Kaur and Suresh Kumar, who launched the company in July 2013, say they have created an online marketplace that offers the latest working coupons.
Shoppirate.in received a seed fund of ₹50 lakh from Confidance Holding, an investment firm focussed on innovative ventures in the technology space based in Hyderabad.
While Kulpreet, Chief Executive Officer, brings eight years of marketing management expertise and runs the business, Suresh Kumar, an IT professional, provides financial and other support.
Mobile appIn the short span, one of the significant achievements of the team has been a mobile app across all three platforms — Android, iOS and Windows — and a web browser add on.
“We have brought complete transparency, which allows users review the coupons they have used,” says Kulpreet. Customers can get latest discount coupons from the site. At present, deals from around 600 national and international stores are featured. The products range from apparels, gadgets, travel, software, food items to accessories. With 15 employees and clocking an average traffic of 40,000, the company is nursing big overseas dreams. “We want to be the first Indian company to enter the tough but lucrative US market and are firmly on course. We are establishing a base in Texas. Our experience in the Canadian market will also help,” says Kulpreet.
Shoppirate gets its revenues through agreements with merchandise firms for a share of the sales. In India, the market is getting crowded, but Shoppirate is among the top three in the segment, she says. “Our emphasis on saving both time and money is helping draw a growing number of customers, especially the young and women for enquiries in fashion, electronics and recharge,” Kulpreet adds.
Novel nameTrying to cash in on the novel name ‘Pirate’, especially among the youth, the company is pushing a big promotion though the social media.
With e-commerce set for huge growth in India in the next few years, Shoppirate.in is sure that it is in the right space and will make it big, says the young CEO.
