A National Symposium of Poets conducted by All India Radio, Chennai was inaugurated by the Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Thursday. The Director General of All India Radio, Fayyaz Shehryar participated in the event.
Introduced in 1956, the Sarva Bhasha Kavi Sammelan is an endeavour to provide a creative platform for national integration and linguistic harmony through mutual interaction and coordinated presentation of the best in contemporary poetry of all Indian languages.
The uniqueness is underlined by the fact that it is a one-of-a-kind programme, wherein 23 eminent poets from 22 Indian languages come together on one stage to offer their creative best.
Poems in their original language was presented by the poets themselves and then they are translated to Hindi and Tamil and recited.
