Our Bureau The Congress shot back at Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for her allegation that the party is trying to create disharmony in the country. The Minister is trying to divert the public’s attention ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, it said.
Congress MP and spokesperson Sushmita Dev said the Defence Minister’s statement is aimed at the monsoon session.
“While we are days away from the monsoon session, and where the Narendra Modi government has no answer on the situation they have created in Jammu and Kashmir, price rise and other issues, she wants to take up controversial issues and move away from the real issue. She has not answered our questions on the multi-crore Rafale deal, the biggest scam that was conducted under her nose,” Dev said.
She said the Congress will continue to question the Centre during the session.
The Congress needs no certificate from the BJP, she remarked.
“The Congress is a party that fought for the independence of the country. We, along with BR Ambedkar, drafted and stood by the Constitution of this country. We request her not to increase division and polarisation by such statements. This is the only language the Prime Minister speaks ahead of every election,” Dev added.
