The three-day exhibition on ‘Light India and Electrical Building Technology India’ (EBTI) began here on thursday. The aim is to showcase the best technologies incorporated in sleek and smart designs for better infrastructural development of the country.

“This is a great occasion where excellent brand have displayed their products in the fast growing lighting industry. We want the industry to manufacture in India not just for Indian markets but also for global markets,” said Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Commerce and Industry.

The event is to provide a platform for promoting brands and helping target new business market.

“We will build 100 airports in the next 15 years and for that we have experts and an investment of 65 billion dollars for this industry and this will be a big opportunity for the lighting industry,” added Prabhu.

Meanwhile, talking about the challenges that the cities face, Puhazhendi, National President, Builders’ Association of India said, “The cities are already congested, so there is a need to make satellite town. As most of the cities already have abundant land in the adjoining area of any city so all the infrastructure like water supply, drainage, lighting can be developed. Also, in these satellite towns green building concept can be adopted to reduce power energy.”

Events like these help in creating awareness among people about energy conservation, he added.
