Gurunath Meiyappan, CEO of the Chennai Super Kings, who has been issued summons by the Mumbai police in connection with possible links to the IPL betting scandal, is the son-in-law of N. Srinivasan, BCCI President, and Managing Director of India cements.
An avid sports lover, Gurunath is also an amateur golfer. He is said to be the think tank behind the CSK team which has won the IPL tournament two times. Meiyappan was often seen at the CSK players dugout during matches.
Reticent Meiyappan belongs to the AVM family and is also the MD of AVM Productions and Entertainment. He holds a Bachelors degree in Commerce from Loyola College, Chennai.
He is in his late 30s and is married to Rupa, daughter of Srinivasan and a Wholetime Director of India Cements.
His wife is also a golfer and it is said that the common interest brought them together. He has two daughters and a son.
