Work on the establishment of a park in memory of the 2010 Mangalore air crash victims will begin in a week, according to an official.
After paying tributes to the departed souls of the 2010 Mangalore air crash victims at Mangalore International Airport on Friday, AB Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, said that a memorial garden will be developed at Thannirbavi near New Mangalore Port Trust. The district administration had buried the unidentified bodies of the victims at Thannirbavi in 2010.
He said that 0.75 acre of land has been identified for this purpose. Now the process is on with sanctioning and tendering. The work order is also being placed to carry out this work, and it will begin in a week, he said.
It may be mentioned here that an Air India Express flight coming from Dubai had crashed at Mangalore airport on the morning of May 22 2010, leading to the death of 158 persons.
