Welcoming Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s sharing of stage with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the Congress said it will accept everyone’s support for a “Modi-Mukt” Bihar.

Talking to reporters at Indian Women Press Corps here on Friday, senior Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh said the Congress will put up young faces in the Assembly elections.

‘Two-faced’

Attacking the BJP, he said the ruling party is engaged in two-faced strategy in the heart-land State. He said while development is being projected, rampant efforts to communalise the electorate are happening behind the curtains. Ramesh said the decision to release religious data of census was aimed at disrupting communal peace. He said the RJD-JD (U)-Congress alliance will fight elections projecting the track record of Nitish Kumar. Ramesh said the support of various caste combinations and the lack of a single leader in the BJP camp are the two other factors that will help the alliance. “We are confident that our alliance will be able to stop the BJP juggernaut in Bihar. If that happens, the politics of the country will change,” Ramesh said.

He said the Centre has been a complete failure in managing the economy. Citing price rise, he said the government was direction-less in dealing with the situation. He also criticised the ‘Indra Dhanush’ programme for the banking sector. He said it’s being used as a ploy to privatise public sector banks.

On Land Acquisition Bill, he said the Centre is again trying to circumvent Parliament. Commenting on the reports that the government may bring a notification to change the Ordinance, Ramesh said the Attorney General and the Law Ministry seem to have two opinions about it.
