Fire on the 20th floor of a midtown Manhattan apartment tower left one person dead and another critically injured, the New York Daily News had reported late Sunday.
The fire in the Strand Condominium on West 43rd Street broke out about 11 a.m. (1600 GMT) on Sunday, the newspaper reported, quoting assistant fire chief John Sudhik.
A 27-year-old man who died suffered a heart attack during the fire. A 32-year-old person was in critical condition from smoke inhalation.
Firefighters battled the blaze for nearly two hours before putting it out.
