Four people were killed and 17 others trapped in a coal mine accident in China’s northeastern Jilin Province today, local authorities said.
The accident, believed to be triggered by gas, took place at Jisheng Coal Mine in Baishan city, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
A total of 116 miners were working underground when the accident occurred, and 95 of them were lifted out of the mine safely.
Rescue work to lift out the trapped miners is underway, it said.
