A suicide bomber detonated a car bomb near Indian consulate today in eastern Afghanistan, killing eight and injuring 22 civilians, police said.
“The bomber’s target was Indian consulate in Jalalabad city, but he was identified by police some 100 meters from the consulate, so he blew his explosives up close to a mosque,” said Sharifullah Amin, police chief for Nangarhar province.
He said eight civilians were killed and 22 others injured, most of them children who were reading the Koran in the mosque.
