The growth of tablet PC sales in China slowed down during the second quarter of this year with sales totalling 3.57 million units, according to a report.
The sales totalled a 5.2 per cent increase over first quarter sales, the report released by Analysys International said.
Apple products also saw declining sales and a shrinking market share in China during the second quarter, Wang Jun, an analyst with Analysys International, said.
Second quarter saw sales of Apple products fall for the first time in Greater China, which includes the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan, the state-run news agency Xinhua said.
According to Apple’s financial report, iPad sales totalled 14.617 million units in the quarter ending June 29, down 14 per cent year-on-year and 25 per cent from the previous quarter.
Tablet PC products from Samsung and China’s domestic brands, including TSMC and Onda, gained market share due to their cost effectiveness and strong online sales, Wang said.
