A Taiwanese broadcaster apologized Tuesday for televising images of Queen Elizabeth when reporting the death of former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher.
CtiTV aired several images of Queen Elizabeth in a breaking news story about Thatcher’s death Monday evening at the age of 87 after suffering a stroke.
The cable station issued an apology via the company’s Chinese website Tuesday for using the wrong images but did explain how the mix up happened.
The blunder drew widespread criticism from local viewers, who voiced concerns over deteriorating media quality in the island-state.
