The European Union and the United States are working on an aid package for Ukraine, according to EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton.
The goal of the aid package would be to help the country into a transitional phase, the Wall Street Journal reported.
It said the EU and US were trying to sway the outcome of the political crisis. An interim government would make political and economic reforms and prepare the country for presidential elections.
The amount of aid “won’t be small,” Ashton said, and will not require Ukraine to conclude a long-term agreement with the International Monetary Fund.
