Euro zone industrial production posted a surprise fall in June, adding to signs that the 18-member economy ended the second quarter on a downbeat note.
Output in the currency bloc contracted by 0.3 per cent in June from May when it slumped by 1.1 per cent, the European Union statistics office Eurostat said on Wednesday.
Analysts had predicted a modest rebound of 0.4 per cent in June, according to a survey drawn up by dpa-AFX.
Year-on-year, industrial production was unchanged in June, Eurostat said.
