Around 100 Indian companies will be participating in an exhibition here next month organised to promote Indian investments in Sri Lanka, an official said today.
“The India show — land of limitless opportunities is to be held in Colombo early August. The Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr Anand Sharma, will also attend the exhibition,” Indian officials here said.
The show to be held between August 3-5 is being organised with the aim of promoting Indian technology and services, as a platform for Indian companies to showcase their excellence, and to promote Indian investments in Sri Lanka.
Bilateral trade grew 65 per cent in 2011 to reach $5 billion. The exhibition will be followed by a business conference.
Some of the key sectors to be represented at the exhibition are: automotive, engineering, science & technology, petroleum & natural gas, service sectors, food & beverage, telecom, handicrafts.
The event is being organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with the support of Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), High Commission of India and the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Colombo.
