Joint top Oscar nominee Gravity lead the Critics’ Choice Awards on Thursday night, taking home seven, including best director for Alfonso Cuaron and best actress in an action movie for Sandra Bullock.
American Hustle, which like Gravity earned ten Oscar nominations on Thursday morning, won five awards, including best acting ensemble.
Another Oscar favourite 12 Years a Slave also did well, winning the prize for best movie, and a best supporting actress award for Lupita Nyong’o.
The other acting awards went to Matthew McConaughy and Jared Leto of Dallas Buyers Club and Cate Blanchett of Blue Jasmine.
