Japan’s Cabinet Minister, in charge of Financial Services and the privatization of the postal system was found dead at his home today, Police said.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement that the body of Tadahiro Matsushita, the Minister of Postal Reforms and Financial Services, was found at his residence in Tokyo. He was 73. Police are investigating the cause of death.
Police had no further comment. Public broadcaster NHK and Kyodo News Agency reported that they were investigating possible suicide.
Matsushita was appointed to the post in June by Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda.
