Just days after release of her first adult novel, famed author JK Rowling has said her next published book will be for children.
“I think probably the next thing I write, or the next thing I publish, will be for children,” said Rowling, while talking to an audience at the Cheltenham Literature Festival in Gloucestershire, England.
She told fans that she had a “number of ideas on my laptop”, but wouldn’t reveal the details about what she has been working on, BBC Newsbeat reported.
She, however, let out that the next book will be for “younger children than the Harry Potter series”.
Her adult novel ‘The Casual Vacancy’ was released at the end of last month, and revolves around a by-election to find a parish councillor in the imaginary town of Pagford after Barry Fairbrother dies.
She read a passage from the book and Rowling also accepted a bunch of flowers and a letter from an overwhelmed fan.
“I know what my next book for adults will be, and I have a number for children I’m working on,” she said.
While taking questions from fans, she also revealed to the crowd at Cheltenham Racecourse that she makes up bedtime stories for her three children.
“But they are tailored very much for my children, so don’t expect to see those being published anytime soon,” she added.
Rowling also admitted she hasn’t read the Fifty Shades series, but did recommend one to readers if, “you are that way inclined”.
