A record 76 movies have been submitted for the foreign language Oscars including first-time entries from Saudi Arabia and Montenegro.
The Oscar nominations will be announced on January 16. The 86th annual awards will be presented on March 2 in Los Angeles.
The Saudi entry Wadjda is a story about an 11-year-old girl’s quest to get a bike, and is the first film from that country to be directed by a woman.
