Sony Corp said on Thursday it had cut its net profit outlook for the current financial year to 30 billion yen ($305 million) from 50 billion yen due to slumping sales of consumer electronics products.
Sony also trimmed its operating profit for the year through March 2014 to 170 billion yen from 230 billion yen it had predicted in August, while sales were predicted at 7.7 trillion yen down from 7.9 trillion yen estimated three months ago.
The PlayStation manufacturer posted a net loss of 19.3 billion yen in the July-to-September quarter, up 24.7 per cent from a net loss of 15.5 billion yen in the same period last year.
The company also said its operating profit in the July-to-September period declined 51 per cent from a year earlier to 14.8 billion yen, while sales were up 10.6 per cent to 1.78 trillion yen.
