At least ten people, including five firefighters, have been killed and 14 others injured in two separate accidents in China.
Five firefighters were killed and 14 others injured in a warehouse collapse while trying to put out a fire in Harbin city of northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The third floor of a warehouse at the Beifangnanxun ceramics market in Harbin city was burnt down at about 10 pm last night, and the firemen on the second floor were buried, it said.
The 14 injured firemen were rushed to a hospital. The condition of three of them was stated as critical.
The warehouse is part of an 11-storeyed residential building. The first to third floors are used as warehouses and the rest eight floors are residential areas.
Meanwhile, in another incident at least five workers were killed and one remained missing after a rooftop and scaffold collapsed in central China’s Hunan Province yesterday.
The collapse occurred at around 5:10 pm when eleven workers were working at a machine repair workshop of a local non-ferrous metal company in Chenzhou city.
Five workers were pulled out of the debris and rushed to a hospital, the state-run Xinhua reported.
