Yahoo! is getting a makeover.
A year after chief executive Marissa Mayer launched her ambitious plan to revitalize the ailing internet pioneer, the Company announced on Wednesday that it would redesign its famous purple logo to be “more reflective of our reimagined design and new experiences.” Yahoo said the new logo would be introduced in a month. Until then the Company will feature a different logo proposal on its home page and across its US network.
Wednesday’s logo featured the Yahoo named followed by its traditional exclamation mark, in a slim upright font that looked cleaner and more modern than its past logo.
“Over the past year, there’s been a renewed sense of purpose and progress at Yahoo!, and we want everything we do to reflect this spirit of innovation,” chief marketing officer Kathy Savitt wrote in a blog post. “While the company is rapidly evolving, our logo — the essence of our brand — should too.”
