People from low-lying areas along the Yamuna were today evacuated as the water level in the river crossed the danger mark.
The water level of the Yamuna crossed the danger mark of 204.83 metres at 1 p.m. and it reached 205.24 metres at 2:30 p.m., officials in the Flood and Irrigation Department said.
They said the water level in the river is expected to rise further as Haryana has released 1.54 lakh cusecs of water into the Yamuna this morning.
The city Government had started evacuation of people living close to the river bank yesterday.
Some 20 camps have been set up to provide shelter to the people affected by the rise in the water level, and arrangements for medical and food facilities have been made, the officials said.
