Y S Sharmila Reddy, a leader of YSR Congress Party and sister of its President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, has become a victim of cyber offence. She has filed a complaint with the police, requesting them to take action against certain Web sites that spread gossip, linking her with a Telugu film actor.
She wants action to be taken under the Section 66A of the IT Act, 200, and Sections 509, 499 and 501 of the Indian Penal Code. “A smear campaign against me in the cruelest manner was launched with the sole intention to tarnish my honour and dignity,” she said in the five-page complaint.
The police have arrested two persons in the connection. They are on the look-out for 11 others who are involved in running two Telugu Web sites.
Asking people not to remain silent spectators to the attacks on women, she appealed to ‘like-minded’ people to come forward and stand by women victims.
