Clad in their graduation robes, the third batch of 98 PGP students at IIM Raipur recently received diplomas at the institute’s convocation ceremony. The diplomas were awarded by Sunil Kant Munjal, Joint Managing Director, Hero MotoCorp, and Chairman, Hero Corporate Service, who attended the event as chief guest.
Delivering the convocation address, Munjal highlighted the need for the graduating class to be job creators and not just job seekers. “India is the world’s oldest and youngest nation. We need to address the needs of a large society who will live longer,” said Munjal. “Try and find solutions to make the people’s lives longer, healthier and more meaningful.”
“We need to ensure that millions of young people who join the workforce are skilled, educated and trained. They must have technical skills as well as soft skills, which become even more important,” he added.
Hari S. Bhartia, Chairman of Board of Governors at IIM Raipur, also encouraged the batch to move ahead with confidence. Bhartia advised the students to make informed choices and remember that success is measured in terms of ‘character’.
Presenting the annual report, B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Raipur, said 16 students from the graduating batch had participated in the international student exchange programme at the institute this year and six international students from different foreign universities also visited the campus.
The institute is also offering doctoral programmes for executives from this year.
