The infrastructure finance company, IDFC, works closely with government entities and regulators to advise and assist them in formulating policy and regulatory frameworks that support private investment and public-private partnerships in infrastructure development.
It is on a new drive this year with a special focus on education. With this came the birth of the In Our Hands campaign by IDFC under the aegis of the India Infrastructure Report, which sought to voice out the youth’s opinion about the education system in India.
IDFC sees In Our Hands as “an opportunity to widen the debate around development, ensuring that the youth take greater ownership for their action and can become influencers of behaviour in their immediate social circle”. A series of competitions were conducted as a part of the campaign in various cities – among them Pune, Delhi, and Chennai. The event was held on November 27 in Stella Maris College.
For us, it opened doors and provided a platform to express our opinions on how to bring about a change in the Indian education system through quizzes and debates and poster competitions. Bogged down by issues like quotas for college seats, the dress codes and attendance, the students got a chance to speak out.
