Lean into leisure

THE VILLA has a cosy interior

It was that time of the year. The morning alarm seemed to blare through my head. Getting up from the bed seemed like a herculean task. The hot and dry New Delhi climate made it difficult to step out or even concentrate. The days passed by as a blur. The solution was simple. A long break from everyday mundane schedule was long overdue.

Villa Loshegani came to the rescue with its picturesque location and the promise of a quite leisurely holiday. The property is a cosy retreat tucked away in the quite hamlet of Loshegani in the beautiful Kumaon hills. Away from the hum drum of city life it offers a vacation which is laid back with no schedule tugging at you.

This getaway is located at an altitude of 7000 ft above sea and provides a great view of the hills and valleys around. On a clear day one can enjoy a view that reaches up to the Kedarnath and Badrinath peaks to the west, to the Nepalese range in the east and the towering Panchachuli peaks to the north.

The journey to the Villa is quite comfortable. One can take an overnight train till Kathgodam and then a bus or cab till the destination. The option of driving down provides a drive through panoramic roads lined with oak and pine trees. The route passes through Muradabad, Tanda, Kaladhongi, Haldwani, Kathgodam, Bhimtal, Ramghar, Nathuwakhan and finally Villa Loshegani.

A week long stay at the Villa should defintiely be planned. It is a home away from home. There are ample opportunities for trekking all around. A small temple of the ‘kul-devi’ is located on the estate under the shade of a 150 year old oak tree. One can drive down to Sheetla Khet in order to experience the joy of a tea estate. Other popular destinations include Old Jageshwar temples, Chital Temples, Binsar, Kausani (both offer spectacular Himalayan views), Jim Corbert Park.

The Villa houses upto 6 people with its two master bedrooms, one attic and plenty of sit out options that can spoil one for choice.

The only drawback in the region is the acute water shortage. The entire district relies on rain water harvesting for its water supply. Hence, water has to be used in a judicious manner.

The staff is extremely helpful and help plan overnight trips and day long trips.

A stay at Villa Loshegani is rejuvenating and refreshing for any tired mind. It is a strongly recommended place for anyone who wishes to bond with nature, their family or someone special!
