Dumping charges found true
The Government has found prima facie evidence of injury to domestic industry due to dumping of potassium permanganate from China and nitrile butadine rubber from Japan. Investigations by the designated authority in charge of anti-dumping operations have also found evidence to show dumping of bisphenol A from Russia and Brazil. Preliminary hearing in the case of potassium permanganate and bisphenol A is scheduled to be held during the last week of February while for nitrile butadine rubber it was held on February 3.
A cellular mobile phone set of the GSM standard variety might cost around Rs. 37,000 to Rs. 46,500 in India, but it could be made available to customers free if the suggestion of the CellStar-HCL, a marketing company for cell phones, is accepted by service operators. The suggestion has been made to the eight cellular mobile phone operators busy setting up their networks in the four metros of the country. According to Mr. Alan Goldfleld, CEO of the US-based CellStar Corporation, the Indian companies have not responded to the suggestion yet. “The suggestion is based on the concept of revenue-sharing between the equipment suppliers and the operators,” Mr. Goldfleld pointed out.

Members of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee attached to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism today forced an adjournment on the issue of apology by Mr Russi Modi. Mr Modi’s recent observations about the need for public sector units to work independently had angered some Committee Members.
