A degree and a stint in TV journalism, followed by a marketing job in her family’s construction business, and then owning a restaurant — these all meant little to Nidhi, who globe-trotted looking for that particular work that would gel with her undying passion for travel.
She found one in the far-away mountains of Spain. Together with her husband, Viren Batra, also a major travel buff and a beer connoisseur driven by food, the Batras hit upon an idea and founded their own travel company. Viren, now co-Founder and CEO, suggested an out-of-the-box name, Nirvana (Emancipation) for the new enterprise. Thus, was born in 2013 Nidhi’s travel brand, Nirvana Excursions, in Mumbai.
Children-friendly vacations Its offshoot, Little Nirvana Explorers, focuses on designing children-friendly vacations in India and overseas. Since the Batras often travel with their clients, their 16-month-old toddler has already been to a dozen countries!
Nidhi Batra, co-Founder and Director, says Nirvana’s USP is that it customises itineraries for trips across the world for both luxury and budget segments. “Our passion covers every single service we offer, including visa services to fully-customised world tour”.
Ninety-five per cent of Nirvana clients are families. Besides, it also specialises in tours for couples, individuals, groups and others. “We are now foraying into corporate travel as well.”
Nirvana Excursions offers pre-packaged and customised tours, along with fixed departure and escorted group tours to any destination in the world.
“Our services include flight and hotel bookings, visa and passport services, sight-seeing and transfers, car rentals, and so on. Besides, we also offer specialised services like honeymoon trips, adventure travels, incentive tours etc.”
Meanwhile, Little Nirvana specialises in organising customised tours for children with kid-specific services. “We make sure that every element of the trip is child-friendly and full of activities. When we start designing the itinerary, we discuss these things with the parents like the age of the kids, their likes and dislikes, and the experience they would like to give them.”
Nidhi says Kerala and Singapore are the most popular destinations for domestic and international travellers from India.
