German luxury car manufacturer Audi today launched the second generation Audi RS 5 Coupé in India. With this, Audi Sport is presenting its first model to feature the new RS design philosophy in the country. The Coupé’s all-new 2.9 TFSI bi-turbo engine produces 450 hp of power and 600 Nm of torque. The standard quattro drive distributes the power to all four wheels.

The distinctive racing details coupled with a V6 engine highlight the new Audi RS 5 Coupé’s sporty character. The car has additional air inlets and outlets at the front and rear along with a sportier single frame grille that is wider and flatter. Matrix LED headlights are standard with dynamic rear indicators, as well as three-dimensional LED rear lights. A press release from the company also claimed that the car weighs 60 kg less than its predecessor.

The RS 5 has a claimed top speed of 250 kmph and can clock 0 to 100 kmph in 3.9 seconds, Audi said. Torque has also increased by 170 Nm when compared to the previous model. The company also claimed 17 per cent less fuel consumption thanks to the B-cycle combustion process with central direct injection. The car gets the RS sports exhaust system as standard. Electronic stabilisation control comes with three modes and wheel-selective torque control.

Coming to the interiors, Audi claimed that front shoulder room has increased by 26 mm and the rear knee room by 23 mm, compared to the previous model. Comfort features include three-zone air-conditioning and ambient lighting along with electrically adjustable front seats with a massage function.

The Audi Virtual Cockpit with special RS screen displays information on tire pressure, torque and g-forces, as well as a shift light that prompts an upshift. Priced at about ₹1.1 crore (ex-showroom), the car is now available at all Audi dealerships across India.
