Japanese auto major Honda’s newest offering, a 160cc naked street motorcycle called the CB Hornet 160R, has finally hit the market. The bike, which was unveiled in August, will be one of the first in its category to confirm to BS-IV emission norms, well ahead of the April 2017 deadline.
The Hornet has a 163cc engine that produces 14.5Bhp of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 14.61Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. It is equipped with the mileage-enhancing Honda Eco Technology (HET) and a counter balancer to reduce vibrations. Honda also added that small spines have been added to the outer surface of the engine cylinder to improve cooling performance and help reduce distortion of its inner shape.
The bike, which features a muscular fuel tank, trapezoidal headlamp, upward facing side indicators and an X-shaped LED tail light, will replace the CB Trigger in Honda’s lineup. It is also fitted with a fully digital meter display. Honda’s unique Combi Brake System (CBS), which co-ordinates braking between front and rear wheels to prevent lock up in hazardous conditions, is available as an option.
The Hornet is available in 21 locations across India. It will be offered in two variants – single disc and dual disc with CBS with a price tag that starts at ₹79,900 (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
