Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has given one of its bestselling motorcycle, the Unicorn, a major makeover that includes a completely new motor.
Aimed to entice the 25-35 year-old riders, the design has been made a bit more aggressive, while retaining some of the older variant’s clean lines.
The Unicorn has always been Honda’s balanced package with very clean styling and decent power, but this time around there are more sharp lines along the tank and the floating cowls. The headlamp too has been redesigned to look a bit more like the existing CB Trigger’s lamp. The new CB Unicorn 160 comes with LED tail-lamps, and clear-lens indicator lamps.
It also carries forward the blacked out engine, muffler and wheels.
The new Unicorn packs more power in the new package - a 163cc single-cylinder mill now churns out 14.7PS of peak power, at 8,000 rpm, while a peak torque of 14.6 Nm kicks in at 6,000 rpm. As with all new Honda products, the CB Unicorn 160’s engine also features Honda Eco Technology (HET), which promises a mileage of 62 kilometres to the litre. For safety, there’s even optional Combined Braking System (CBS) to improve braking distance.
Priced at ₹69,350 for the standard variant; and ₹74,414 for the CBS variant (Ex-showroom, Delhi), the Honda CB Unicorn 160 is positioned to take on the newly launched Suzuki Gixxer, and the Yamaha FZ-S Version 2.0.
The CB Unicorn 160 comes in 4 colour options -Imperial Red Metallic, Pearl Black, Geny Grey Metallic and Sunbeam White.
