Maruti Suzuki has unveiled a new edition of its best-selling Alto 800. Featuring a new front and interior design, additional colour options as well as improved fuel efficiency, the car is expected to inject fresh blood into the Alto line, which already contributes to almost 18 to 20 per cent of Maruti Suzuki’s sales in India. The Alto has remained India’s top selling model for more than 12 years in a row and is the only Indian car brand to cross the historic 30 lakh sales milestone.
Extra efficientWith a highly efficient combustion system, the new engine provides excellent torque at low rpms, enabling less frequent gear changes. The specially coated piston and ring set reduces frictional losses and increases engine life and fuel efficiency.
The petrol variant of the new Alto 800 delivers fuel efficiency of 24.7 kmpl – around 9 per cent more than the previous version. The CNG model offers a mileage of 33.44 km/kg – an improvement of around 10 per cent.
The front fascia of the car gets a new Aero Edge Design as well as a new bumper and grille. It also increases the exterior length of the vehicle by 35 mm. The lower grille is made wider and features redesigned headlamps in addition to the fog lamps in the bumper.
On the inside, there is a new dark grey interior colour along with new seat and door trim. An improved rear seat with an integrated headrest makes the ride more comfortable for the rear passengers. The car is now available in two additional colours – Mojito Green and Cerulean Blue.
Safer than everThe Alto 800 is available with a driver airbag as an option from the base variant onwards. The passenger side ORVM is now a standard while the higher trims come with a rear door child lock. In addition, Maruti Suzuki has also added a few new features such as remote keyless entry and smart storage spaces.
