Mercedes-Benz India has launched the all-new GLA 220 d ‘Activity Edition’, its latest offering in the compact SUV segment, and the company’s ninth overall product for this year. With this offering, Mercedes-Benz debuts the much talked about 4MATIC drivetrain in the GLA in the Indian market.

The SUV derives its power from a 2.1-litre diesel engine, which churns out 125 kW of power and 350 Nm torque. With the all-wheel drive system, it has a 7G-DCT transmission system and also has an off road engineering package as standard.

The exteriors of the vehicle also get some tweaks, in the form of new alloy wheels design, black decals on the doors and chrome elements in the rocker panel. The car also offers a new mountain grey colour option.

Merc interiors are known for their plush feel and luxurious comfort and the new GLA is no different. The overheard panels have compartments for spectacles and the front seats also have stowage compartments under them.

The floor mats get an ‘Activity Edition’ overhaul and the luggage compartment gets a 12 V socket, handy for charging. The interiors also feature an 8” media display and a smartphone integration package.

The car also gets a keyless starting function and rain sensing wipers.

Mercedes boasts of the GLA having achieved the maximum five star rating in the Euro NCAP safety ratings. The SUV has six airbags and other safety features such as DSR, ABS, ESP, ASR, and BAS as standard offerings.

The GLA 220 d 4MATIC is available at an ex-showroom price of ₹38.51 lakh. (Pune).
