My favourite airport: Changi, Singapore
What I like about it: Singapore is my home and the best thing about this airport is the easy in and out. I have not explored it as much as most people would like to because the airport does not force me to wait back. Their systems, connectivity, everything that matters is up and running — there is no need to hang around most of the time.
What could be improved : To quote an Aamir Khan dialogue, Perfection cannot be improved. Before we can experience a difficult or uneasy situation, the team at Changi seems to have already figured out the issue and provided the solution. They are a step ahead in anticipating difficulties and I am sure they have a crack team with ears to the ground.
Other airports I like : Our business requires me to travel extensively and I like Zurich Airport. Renovation at airports can be a nightmare. I was pleasantly surprised to see how Zurich Airport handled its Terminal 2 renovation spread over years by carefully planned schedules for sub-projects before the main renovation project commenced. As for favourites in India, it is Ahmedabad airport, for sentimental reasons, as it is my home town. Mumbai airport’s Terminal 2 is elegant, spacious, but could do with a lot more efficiency.
