The most irritating part of air travel is waiting for checked-in baggage. It defies any pattern. ‘Last-in, First out’, ‘First-in, Last out’... nothing quite explains when you will get your bags, however modern the airport and its baggage handling system. It is quite the contrary in many of Nepal’s airports. Though small, they handle quite a few flights. But their baggage handling system remains fully manual, as seen here at Pokhara airport’s ‘baggage claim’. How the ground staff sorts the baggage for various flights is proof of human ingenuity.
