The 2018 Baselworld focusses anew on women’s watches. Watch manufacturers are now no longer emphasising on just bejewelled timepieces but also offering complications. Here is our pick of the top four timepieces that stand out from the rest

Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ‘Rainbow’

It was in 2012 when Rolex first introduced the Cosmograph Daytona ‘Rainbow’. Available only in white and yellow gold in extremely limited numbers, the watch quickly attained a cult status, after it gained popularity with celebrities and watch collectors. For 2018, Rolex has released a new version of the timepiece, which now is available in an attractive rose gold. Just like the original, the bezel is set with 36 baguette-cut sapphires applied in a range of graduated colors while the mid-case is encrusted with 56 brilliant-cut diamonds. What separates the new watch from its predecessor is the use of another 11 baguette-cut colored sapphires that have been used for the hour marker.

Patek Philippe WorldTime Minute Repeater

At its Grand Exhibition in New York last year, Patek Philippe unveiled the World Time Minute Repeater Ref. 5531R special edition that was limited to just 10 pieces.

It was the first ever minute repeater to chime the time in any city on the world time chapter ring. For Baselworld 2018, the Swiss watchmaker has now unveiled a new version of the ultra-complicated timepiece that will become part of its regular collection. Just like the special edition mode, the new Ref. 5531 combines a minute repeater and a world-time function — two grand complications dear to Patek Philippe. The new timepiece has a stunning enamel dial showing the Lavaux vineyard terraces on the shores of Lake Geneva (a Unesco world heritage site).

Arnold & Son Nebula Lady

At this Baselworld, the La Chaux-de-Fonds-based manufacture has released a new women’s version of its Nebula watch, first introduced in 2016.

Arnold & Son Nebula Lady

The key design element of the watch, just like the men’s model, is a perfect symmetry of the openworked dial and the movement — not only horizontally, but also vertically. The new timepiece is offered in an 18K pink gold case, encrusted with 90 brilliant cut diamonds weighing approximately 0.52 carats. The bridges of the Nebula Lady are made of solid pink gold. The central hour and minute hands, along with the small seconds hand are all finished in a flat black colour, which beautifully contrasts with the dial. The new timepiece, limited to only 50 pieces, comes with a white calfskin strap.

Chopard Happy Sport

The Swiss manufacturer is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its iconic Happy Sport model with a new interpretation that demonstrates Chopard’s excellence in haute horlogerie.

The new iteration of the watch is powered by a mechanical self-winding movement, which has been exclusively developed for a women’s watch with a 30-mm case. Just like the previous Happy Sport watches, the new version has the five moving diamonds that appear to float and dance above the dial. The new Happy Sport Manufacture is available in four versions: a blue dial with a gem-set steel case; a pink dial with a steel and 18-carat rose gold case; a white dial with an 18-carat rose gold case; and a white dial with a gem-set 18-carat rose gold case.
