When it comes to hiring, 72 per cent of employers surveyed in the ‘India Skills Report’ 2015 preferred hiring people aged 30 or under. Hiring across states has intensified, particularly in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh have the most “employable talent,” the survey says.

Still a long road

Women, underrepresented at most levels in the workforce, are not progressing in their careers despite two decades of organisational efforts to achieve gender diversity and equality, according to Mercer. If current approaches continue unchanged, only one-third of executive positions will be held by women over the next 10 years. In the US and Canada, however, just one-fourth of women will hold executive positions by 2024, while female representation in developing countries is expected to grow rapidly.

CEOs fail leadership test?

Lack of confidence in global leadership is challenging prospects of tackling pressing problems in the world, according to research published by the World Economic Forum. The Global Leadership Index, based on a survey of over 1,200 experts, says that 86 per cent of the respondents agreed that the world is facing a leadership crisis. The index ranked NGOs at the top of the trust index with a score of 5.53. Business leaders ranked second, with a mediocre trust score of 4.7.
