If you often find your phone in the hands of the kids or if you leave it around unattended on your office table, it’s time to put the locks on whatever apps you’d rather keep private. You can password-lock the phone, using your fingerprint or pin or pattern etc, but there are times when you let someone else use your device or when you let others know how to get into your phone. So what you can do is lock up individual apps. Easier than ever on Android, there are apps to lock apps. But try AppLock by DoMobile, free on the Play Store.
This is an easy app to use. All you have to do is give it the permissions it asks for and create a security pattern to serve as the password to your secured apps. Now go to the list of apps shown and click on the little lock next to its name to lock it up. Now, even you can’t get into that app without using the pattern you set. AppLock itself will now also require that pattern to open up as will any apps you choose to lock up. You can change the pattern anytime and also make sure it’s not visible to others when you draw it.
Be sure to explore the settings and options carefully on AppLock. You’ll find there’s a lot you can do with it including locking up the ability to make calls. You can hide notifications for the locked up apps, prevent the installing or uninstalling of apps and even lock up Settings. You can prevent someone from changing Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings. A tip: you can always install AppLock at times when you think your phone is vulnerable and offload it when you think it’s in a safe zone. It barely takes a few seconds. It doesn’t need saying that you better not forget your own pattern!
