Even though the Internet of Things (IoT) has cast its spell on all kinds of products and devices, we haven’t seen too many electricals products entering the market. The Aeroslim IoT fan from Orient Electric, which is an arm of the part of the CK Birla Group, is one of the latest IoT-enabled electrical devices to enter the Indian market.
The Aeroslim fan has an eye-catching design. It is quite unlike most of the traditional fans in the market today. Once mounted, it offers a pleasing look and feel to your ceiling; be it on the living room or the bedroom. We fitted it on the living hall and it synced nicely with the ambience, enhancing the overall look of the area. The telescopic adjustable design is extremely helpful while mounting the fan on the ceiling; it helps you position the fan properly, avoiding bends and tweaks. The blades are long and lean; Orient Electric claims the blade’s are aerodynamically designed for higher thrust and air delivery. The blades are rust-free blades and are made of compounded polymers (Glass Filled ABS). The device consumes just 45 watts of power, according to the makers. The inverter motor helps save power (40 per cent, claims Orient Electric).
The Aeroslim comes with a slender and small white remote. It allows you control various functions: turn on/off the fan; set timers; choose fan modes and switch on the embedded light-bulb, which is placed at the front of the fan. The bulb can be dimmed and brightened based on your needs.
Connecting the fan to your smartphone is a bit tricky but once done it’s super convenient. You have to download the Orient Electric mobile app and use the remote keys to sync the device to the phone. In fact, this is easier said than done. It took us some precious time and patience to get this synced to the phone and still we ran into minor glitches in operations. But soon things fell in place.
The app will help you schedule runs, change modes, and run a reverse rotation for better air circulation. There are various modes such as the turbo mode, sleep mode and breeze mode, which you can opt for using the remote as well as the app. The built-in timer feature and app are really useful if you have old people or children taking rest in another room and you want to control the fan from elsewhere.
In fact, the app can accommodate more than one fans, which is very convenient as the devices can be controlled from anywhere. Users can pair Aeroslim with Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant. Use the Orient Smart Application to manage it all. The fan comes with a two-year warranty and free installation.
